New Look!!

My sister and I have spent a lovely bank holiday Monday afternoon updating my blog layout.  There are still some tweaks that are needed but now having eaten the chocolate cake we have run out of steam.  I would love to hear your comments on the new look so far.  Remember your comments make me happy.

Get Well Soon Wishes

I made this card for my Grandma who was taken ill whilst on holiday last week and has been in Bournemouth hospital. I have used one of the stamps from the Fun and Fast notes stamp set and coloured it in using the inkpad lid and my blender pens.
The main base of the card is Very Vanilla and topped with a layer of Perfect and Pale Plum cardstock. I have used the tree vine from Vintage Vogue to create the border on the outer edge of the card, inked with pale plum.
The little bow to finish off the card is 1/4" elegant eggplant ribbon and adhered with a glue dot.
We all wish Grandma a speedy recovery and hope that she will be back home soon XX

Project 2

This is the second project my ladies undertook. The original idea came from a swap of Kerry Timms.
My card base is whisper white and then a layer of pretty in pink which I have versamarked with the vintage vogue wheel.
Then a strip of so saffron cardstock has been added and a length of certainly celery ribbon adhered with glue dots.
The three images along the centre of the card have been made using the scallop circle punch in rose red and then 1/3/8" and 11/4" circle punch in old olive and whisper white card stock.
I have used the 2 step bird punch to create the top images in off cuts of cardstock.
The sentiment comes from Sincere Salutations and is stamped in rose red ink using the stamp-a-ma-jig to position..

Bookmark

Tomorrow I am going to see some wonderful ladies at Parliament Eary Years Centre for a morning of crafting. One of our projects will be to make this lovely bookmark.
Amanda gave a swap at our last team meeting so I have changed the ribbon and colours to make my own version of the bookmark.
I have used 2 scallop circles of Night of Navy cardstock which were stapled together with a lengh of bashful blue stripped grosgrain ribbon to start with.
I have then added 11/4" circle of Taken with Teal and a 1" circle of Bashful Blue cardstock. A small heart was added to finish off. (repeat this for the other side of the bookmark)
Thanks for stopping by.

Wedding Day

My sister and her family were at a wedding on Saturday and she had asked me to make a card at the last minute. She is a great crafter but had just not had time to make the card herself.
Trying to make the most of my time on friday evening I packed myself a small box of supplies and went off to take my younger daughter and her friend to gymnastics. My plan was to make the card whilst waiting for the girls. I had 45 minutes of free time.
I used Confetti White cardstock for the base. ( a new choice for me), but its lovely and just perfect for a wedding card. The middle layer is Pale Plum and Pretty in Pink cardstock I used the Simply Said stamp set with pretty in pink ink and 1/2" striped grosgrain ribbon.
My images were stamped and coloured in using blender pens and were then punched out using the scallop square. The middle sentiment comes from Occasional Greetings.
I hope the happy couple enjoyed their day, they certainly had perfect weather.....

Thank You Card 2

This is the second card that I made for Alice. Again it was a quick card using scraps from my craft box.
I have used Whisper White cardstock for the base and then layered a piece of Chocolate Chip and DSP from Rose Red. The sentiment is again from Oval All and has been stamped in Rose Red onto Whisper White cardstock, and then layered onto Rose Red. I have used the oval and scallop oval punches. I have used a piece of 3/8" taffeta ribbon pretty in pink to balance the bottom of the card.
Its surprising what you can do with your left overs. Have a look in your box and challenge yourself to make something with the bits. Email me your results I would love to see them.

Thank You Card

Its been a busy end to the last week. As I already mentioned my elder daughter left school on thursday and wanted thank you gifts and cards for her favourite teachers. The above card was one of the ones that I made for her quickly using some scraps I had in my craft box.

I love the contrast of dark and pale blues in this card, together with the stark white.
The card base is Whisper White and then I have layered a panel of night of navy and some DSP from bella bleu. The faux stitching was marked using the uni-ball signo gel pen.

The sentiment was from Oval All and was stamped in Tempting Turquoise onto Whisper White card and punched out using the oval punch. This was layered onto a piece of Night of Navy which was punched out using the scallop oval punch. These were adhered using dimensionals to give some lift to the card.

My next post will show the second card I made for Alice.

Thank You Cards

I had to make a number of thank you cards for my workshop customers and this is the design I came up with.
The top photo shows the card is more detail for you.
I have used Whisper White cardstock for the base and then teamed it with Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip. The Chocolate Chip border was punched using the eyelet border punch.
I have used the greeting from Trendy Trees and punched out using the word window punch.
The bird and leaf are punched out using the Extra Large Two Step Bird Punch using off cuts of cardstock in Real Read and Garden Green.
I used one of the stamps from Trendy Trees and stamped in Chocolate Chip to give some definition to the bird.

Bird House design

I needed to post three photo's of the tiny birdhouse so that you can see it from all angles and in detail.
My daughter Alice finishes school on Thursday and she wanted 3 gifts for her favourite teachers. I thought the bird box was a lovely gift and we have filled them with chocolates. It also meant my sister and I could practice them before our ladies at craft on thursday make them!!!
Now I can't take the credit for the design but if you visit Jo Dumbleton's blog at http://stampin-n-stuff.blogspot.com/ you will find a tutorial on how to make them.
I have used Close to Cocoa ink and cardstock together with More Mustard.
My bird and branch were punched using the new 2 step bird punch .
If you would like to learn how to make this bird house I still have a few spaces left at my Craft Class on thursday 20th May. Please contact me for details on 01452 855231 / 07855617920 or at caroonstampin@googlemail.com/

Tuesday Workshop

I held a workshop on Tuesday evening to give my business a kick start and would just like to say a huge thank you to Kerry for her support and guidance through the evening and her wonderful make and take. Another thank you goes to all who attended the evening there were 16 guests in total so Kerry and I were very busy.
Above is the card that I demonstrated during the evening. I have used the Simply Said stamp set together with Perfect Plum and Pale Plum cardstock and their matching inkpads, together with very vanilla for stamping on. The corners have been notched out using the 1/2" circle punch, and the greeting has been punched out using the oval punch and this is then mounted on the scallop circle using dimensionals. I have used the paper piercing tool and mat to pierce each scallop. The ribbon is 1/4" elegant eggplant. The stamp-a-ma-jig was used to position my hearts and their centres in line. The centres were coloured in with blender pens.
If you would like to see this card demonstrated please contact me to book a workshop in may.
Tomorrows post shows another card using simply said but with a different colour combo. This is my swap for our quarterly team meeting on Saturday. ( I have made 14 card fronts) A bit of a production line was going on this one.

Challenge #26 - A Theme Challenge

This is my contribution to our latest team challenge. Please visit http://www.inspiringinkinchallenges.blogspot.com/ to see the teams other entries.
We have been challenged to make a card using buttons, bows, butterflies and a stamp set from the new mini catalogue. We could use one or all of the above. So I have used everything!!!
Again I have made a slider card using perfect plum and pale plum cardstock, together with Perfect Plum and Pale Plum inkpads. The insert panel is Pale Plum and Very Vanilla.
The flowers were stamped on Very Vanilla and hand cut out and then painted with yes shimmer paint again!!!
On the insert I have stamped a sentiment from occasional greetings using shimmer paint to finish off the friend theme.

My buttons form the centre of the two large flowers and then they have been tied with a linen thread bow. My three small butterflies are from the oval all stamp set and I just coloured in the butterfly from one of the sentiments with my perfect plum marker.

I hope you like this combination as much as I do.

Slider Card (A Touch of Nature)

Over the weekend I was trying to master a template for a slider card but just couldn't get it !!!
Last night I picked up my card pieces and guess what it just clicked. So much so that I made a second one for our fortnightly inspiringinkin challenges, which I will show tomorrow.
I have used A Touch of Nature Stamp set, together with Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Ruby Red and old Olive inkpads. Now my card isn't perfect but I rather like it.
My card base is Real Red and then the panels and insert are Whisper White. I have used the scallop edge border on some left over Real Red Card to create a border on the insert.
I have used the rock and Roll technique on the large flowers and the butterfly is coloured in using my blender pens and is then hand cut out. To give the butterfly a shimmer I have wiped it over with shimmer paint which can be found in our new mini catalogue.
The ribbon used is Red Gingham 3/16".
Once you have your measurements this card is easy. (isn't everything when you know how).
If you would like to learn how to produce a card similar to this one and master the Rock and Roll technique, we will be doing both at my next card class on Thursday 20th May 7.30pm at St Johns Church, Churchdown. Please contact me to book a place on caroonstampin@googlemail.com or 01452 855231.
