Left Overs!

A couple of months ago I used this same card base and colours for one of the projects at my card class.

This time round I used my Vintage Vogue and Sincere Salutations stamp sets to create a completely different card and use up some left over stock.

The flowers have been stamped using So saffron ink and then the edges were rolled on a ruby red inkpad. (Rock and Roll technique). These were then hand cut and the edges marked with a 2 way glue pen and dazzling diamonds glitter added for some sparkle...

The Chocolate Chip central panel has had the scallop edge border punch used along the bottom and , then on the whisper White layer I have punched out the corners using the 1/2" circle punch. The vine has been inked using old olive and the sentiment stamped in Chocolate Chip. I am pleased with the effect of glitter on this card and can see me using this more.

Challenge #25 A Colour Challenge

This is my entry for our latest team challenge that can be found here http://www.inspiringinkinchallenges.blogspot.com.

I decided to use up one of my left over card packs from a previous workshop, so you will have seen this design before, I have just added the extra requirements.

Our challenge was to use 3 different colours from one family and add check or gingham.

I have used Taken with Teal for my card base topped by very vanilla. The central 4 panels are YoYo Yellow, Green Galore, Tempting Turquiose and real Red (4 colours from the same family)

These are mounted on black cardstock.

I have used the Birthday Best stamp set and White craft ink to stamp each image. The photo does not do the image much justice it looks better on the original.

My touch of gingham comes in with the red 3/16" ribbon which runs through the centre of the card and is finished with a bow.

I hope you like my take on our latest challenge.

Project 2 from Thursday's Class

This was our classes second project of the evening. The layout was inspired by a card created by Jane Cutting at a recent workshop I attended. I just tweaked a little and changed the colour combination.

Our card base was Bashful Blue followed by Night of Navy and then Naturals Ivory cardstock.

We used Bashful Blue ink to stamp the vine image on the base and the vine and sentiment on the top layer of the card. The flowers were stamped using Night of Navy ink and then handcut with snips, pierced with ice blue brads and adhered with dimenionals.

The top two layers of the card were punched using the eyelet border punch to add a touch of pretty and Night of Navy ribbon was added and tied in a knot.

Projects from April Card Class

This is the first of our two projects from last thursday's class. This simple box was made from two squares of paper from the Rose Red DSP series. (the bottom was 14cm and top 15cm). You

can make the box any size you want just ensure the top is 1cm larger than the bottom.

To create the box was just a series of folds after finding the centre of the square. No cuts involved at all. To finish off the top of the box we made a small vellum rose with a rhinestone brad as the centre point. These roses are so simple to make if a little messy. We had a little bit of blue peter, as I had already coloured the vellum before class as it becomes a little messy and takes time to dry. I inked the plain vellum with the Rose Red inkpad for this colour combo and then allowed it to dry. You then cut out approx 8 scallop circles and pierce a brad through the centre and then scrunch the scallops up until you get the result you want.

A perfect handmade box to perhaps put small gifts in like jewellery.

Rose Red again!!

I have made a card like this one for one of my ladies to attends my card class. The layout came from a sketch I found on mojo monday.

I have used Whisper White cardstock for the base followed by Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Naturals Ivory, Rose Red and DSPs from the Rose Red series.

The sentiment comes from Vintage Labels which was available during Sale-a-Bration. This is the first time I have used this set but I love the image stamped with Rose Red ink. The label itself fitted nicely into the oval punch and is then layered onto the scallop oval.

Those buttons are yet again cardstock punched with the 1/4" circle punch and then applied with crystals effects. This is my thing of the moment.......

Well I am now mobile again and not really looking forward to going back to work on Monday. I have enjoyed the extra time at home crafting as you can tell from my increased posts, the housework is also all up to date!!! BLISS

Mojo Monday Sketch

This card is similar again to a previous blog I have just changed the colours and a few accessories. Its amazing how one original design can be adapted so easily.

I have used Very Vanilla cardstock for the base, and stamped images, together with pumpkin pie.

The designer papers are from the patterns pack designer series paper III. (hostess level one).

The stamped image comes from the Trendy Trees set and is inked using Pumpkin Pie. The edges of the cardstock have been daubered using Chocolate Chip ink.

The sentiment comes from Happy Moments as is again in Chocolate Chip. The brad is in Pumpkin Pie and from the Circle Fire range.

The ribbon is 5/8" Chocolate Chip. The six small buttons were made using the 1/4" circle punch and punching out in chocolate Chip and then apply crystal effects and leave to dry. One dry the image is shiny and raised.

This card is ideal for that tricky man card or even ladies just use different colour combos.

Tomorrows card is cased from another mojo monday sketch. This webiste is great for looking at layouts and then putting your own twist on them.

A Beautiful Thing teamed with In My Garden

My Mum asked me to make her a couple of cards for her friends. One for a birthday and the other for a friend who has just started chemo treatment. I wanted something that I could adapt for both requests.

I have used one of my favourite colour combinations of Chocolate Chip and Rose Red, together with Naturals Ivory which I have recently been introduced too.

The cardbase is Chocolate Chip and I have versamarked one of the images from the Greenhouse Garden Stamp Set and then layered on Rose Red which has the same image stamped on it.

I Then used Basic Grey to stamp the rose Image from In My Garden (Level one hostess gift) twice onto the Naturels Ivory and then I have used the inkpad lid and my blender pens to colour the image in. One the second image I only coloured in two of the roses as I then hand cut these out and adhered with dimensionals to give some lift to the card. The full stamped image was punched out using the 1 3/8 circle punch. The raised roses have also been brushed over with the champagne mist shimmer paint. It gives a wonderful sparkle when it catches the light.

A piece of Chocolate Chip 5/8" ribbon has been tied around the bottom of the card and adhered to the back with sticky strip.

The happy birthday was stamped from the Happy Moments Set and punched out using the word window.

I have then used an idea cased from Kerry Timms and punched out circles of 1/2" and 1/4" to balance the card. On the smaller circle I have used crystal effects which gives a raised shiny finish when dry.

I always decorate the inside panel in my cards so for this one I stamped the flower image again and coloured using my blender pens. I have once again used the shimmer paint on the roses.

The second card I did for mum had the Thinking of you sentiment punched out for the Trendy trees stamp set.

Tip: The Naturels Ivory cardstock is fabulous for water colouring, but I didn't find it so good when I tried to heat emboss on it.

Birthday Best Stamp Set

Well the children went back to school yesterday so I treated myself to a day crafting, which will continue through the week as I am still without a car. It has almost been 10 days now but hopefully my windscreen should be replaced tomorrow between 1-6pm. The only good thing about not having the car is that I have been out less and spent less. (so Paul is happy). Not sure how happy Hannah has been about walking to and from school though.

Now you will have seen a similar card to the above one before on my post and I found some kits still to be used as they were left over from one of my workshops so I decided to adapt it slightly.

The card base is Taken with Teal and then layered with Very Vanilla, the edges have been distressed using the cutter tool and slightly daubered with Taken with Teal ink. I have used black cardstock and then layered each oblong with Real Red, YoYo Yellow, Green Galore and Tempting turquoise.

Two images were stamped from the Birthday Best Stamp set using the Craft white inkpad and the other two images were stamped from Trendy Trees using Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke and Taken with Teal inkpads.

The centre of the card has a button from the bold brights range and is tied with linen thread to finish it off card.

Jo's Take on Vintage Vogue

For Jo's card she has used cardstock from the soft subtles family. The cardbase is mellow moss topped with Barely Banana and then Certainly celery.

Jo has used the eyelet and scallop border punches which look lovely together.

The vine border was positioned using the stamp-a-ma-jig and inked in always artichoke. The flowers were stamped using so saffron ink and hand cut out. A brad from the vintage brads collection was pierced through the middle and they were adhered to the card using dimensionals. To give movement to the flower the edges were rolled around the paper piercing tool.

The leaves were stamped using old olive ink and, the stem was marked using old olive from the stampin markers and the ribbon was so saffron 1/2" stripped grosgrain.

Birthday Cakes

Its a quick post today as its Hannah's 9th birthday so crafting will be on hold. We are off to go bananas this morning which is a large ball pit area with slides etc. Hannah is very excited as this will be her first party not held at home.

We normally have some kind of craft party but this is what she wanted this time, and daddy is just about getting over the shock of how much it has cost.......

My mum is not a crafter but her talents lie in cake making and decorating so I thought I would post the cake that she has made for Hannah and the number seven was my nephew's cake from last week.

The children always give granny her instructions for their birthday cakes. Mum is making Alice's 16th birthday cake for next month, needless to say chocolate is involved.

Well off to the party now with 11 excited girls......

Blue Vintage Vogue

Again I have used vintage vogue as my stamp set together with Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla cardstock.

Although you cant see in the photo I have used my scissors and run the middle panel of card through them which gives it a rustic effect. I versamarked the F stamp and then heat embossed using blue embossing powder. This was then hand cut this out, a small rhinestone brad was put through the middle and adhered to the card using dimensionals.

As a final touch we have used Not Quite Navy Ribbon and tied it in a small knot.

This card is simple to do and you will achieve a different look depending on your colour combination.

Vintage Vogue Pizza Box

I found a template on splitcoast stampers for a pizza box so Jo and I decided to try it out. It was easy to do and we used very vanilla cardstock to make it.

Once we had made the box we were sitting and looking at it, thinking we can do something else with this....Vintage Vogue was our stamp set of the day and it is available in the new mini catalogue from Stampin Up! I have a feeling that it is going to become one of my favourites.

My scraps box came in very handy as there was a strip of perfect plum DSP which made a lovely border when I had punched it using the eyelet border punch. We then used a dauber around the top edges of the box and did some slight sponging. Still not quite happy with the effect I got out my shimmer paints and we daubered the edges again using the champagne mist....(this has gone on Jo's wish list).

We have then layered up perfect plum, rose red and very vanilla cardstock. The vine stem comes from the lovely vintage vogue stamp set as well as the large F friends stamp. For the F stamp we versamarked and then added heat and stick powder, slightly heated it with the heat gun and then added dazzling dimonds glitter and re heated to set. What a lovely effect. These were products that Jane Cutting showed me how to use a few weeks ago.

To finish off the box we tied a knot using elegant eggplant ribbon.

These boxes can be filled with chocolates, small cards or notelets.

Getting messy!!!!!

Time seems to be flying by this school holiday and I have found it hard to find a quiet spot to craft in peace. However my friend Jo and I decided that today was the day and we were going to craft so this is what my table looked liked after we had been going for an hour. Last night I had the great idea to make 10 girls and 1 boy party bag for my daughters party on friday. (she is very excited and will be 9). So last night we had a family bike ride to Sainsbury's to buy some goodies to go in the bags. All fine except I hadn't ridden for about 30 years so needless to say a certain part of my body is in agony today......

Anyhow Jo and I had a production line going using the circle circus stamp set and the scallop circle punch together with the 1 1/4" and 1" and 3/4" circle punches.

For the girls bag we used Regal Rose, Pale Plum and Pixie Pink inkpads. I also made some confetti out of scraps of vellum using the Boho blossoms and 3 hearts punch.

For the boy we used Not quite Navy and Taken with Teal.

The cardstock used was an assortment of Whisper White and Very Vanilla.

We used SNAIL, Tombow and dimensionals to adhere together.

All the goodies were put into a small cello bag which was stapled at the top and then I used my crop-a-dile to make a hole, through which gold elastic thread, was threaded holding everything together. The top picture gives a nice view of the finished product.

Each party bag worked out at less than 40p what a bargain.....

Stampers get together

Well three of us managed a get together today at mine and showcased each of our cards for men. Above are the two cards I made. The top card is a design by Kerry Timms and the bottom one by Georgina Summers. My idea was showcased on tuesday. I think we all had fun today including the 4 children who were in and out of the kitchen.

I must mention that sadly Jane Cutting was unable to join us this time and we did miss her. We are going to set another date and challenge so hopefully she will be with us next time. X (ps thank you for last night Jane).

The lovely driver from UPS also arrived this afternoon baring lots of goodies. Georgina and I spent a lovely hour in the garden sorting out orders and convincing my husband that it wasn't all for me......For anyone who placed an order with me at the beginning of the month I will be delivering tomorrow.

I hope to be able to show you some new goodies and ideas from our new mini catalogue over the next few days.

Man card challenge

Last saturday myself, Georgina Summers and Kerry Timms set ourselves a challenge for this thursday when we are having a couple of hours crafting together. We decided to each design a man card and then provide all the materials for each other to do the make and take.

We all seem to struggle with man cards so this will ensure we all put our thinking caps on and see what we each come up with. We are of course using our stampin up supplies for this challenge.

I have designed a card based on a template that I was shown by some other craft buddies last week. The card base is cut from one sheet of A4 paper that is cut 4" x 11" and then scored at 7cms, 14cms and 21cms. You need 2 pieces cut to these measurements and scored. When you adhered the two end panels of each card it will then fold as you see above and fit in a normal c6 envelope. I have then cut 8 panels of very vanilla cardstock at 9.5cms x 6.5cms.

I have used the trendy trees stamp set and birthday best together with pumpkin pie, chocolate chip, old olive and so saffron ink.

The edges have been daubered with chocolate chip.

Although I say so myself I am quite pleased with the end result......I hope the girls like it too.

Black and White

Hi I can't believe tuesday was the last day that I posted. The week just seems to have flown by.

I have had fun crafting this week but just haven't had anything new to post and show you.

On tuesday I saw the lovely Jane Cutting and was able to play with a few things that I haven't got from Stampin Up although they are now on my wish list. (are you like me and dont try new things until someone has shown you how they work) well Jane showed me quite a few things so watch this space for as and when I purchase the items and post my lovely creations.

On wednesday I crafted with my friend Beth and she made a lovely easter basket and the colourful card using the colour panels and the trendy trees stamp set and all for FREE....she is going to host a workshop party for me in exchange. If you would like to do the same please get in touch.

On thursday I thought I was going to be able to have one last day to craft in peace before the children broke up from school. Well that went by the wayside as I had forgotten that the younger one had an inset day and all she wanted to know was what were we going to do on her day off!!!!

And lastly yesterday I thought gosh I haven't made my swaps yet for our team meeting which was this morning. I had my idea but things didn't quite work out as I had hoped so the above card is version two.
